Just got a bunch of stuff from Reef Cleaners. CUC mostly. I also purchased some macro algae for my refugium (chaeto, gracilaira, ulva and mangroves). I'm not sure what is the correct way to place the mangroves in my refugium. Should the root end be planted in the mud? Should the tips be under or above the water? Right now the root end is kind of floating in the fuge and the tips are kind of hanging out of the fuge. How have you placed your mangroves in your refugiums?

I made a small pile of live rock and wedged the roots in the rocks. The tips stick out of the water a few inches. Seems to work, they've been growing and sprouting leaves great.

i have no rock in mine so i made 1/4"x1/8"x 12" long plexi sticks and zip tied the mangroves to the plexi sticks till the roots started to grow into the sand then i cut the zip ties and pulled out the sticks and they stood up by them selfs. also like Jim said leave the tops out of the water a few inches.

I used a small section of plastic eggcrate to keep the mangroves upright, and I have the roots resting on live rock in the sump, the tips are a few inches above the water.
