adding more sand on top.. good or a no no

    Aside from the brief calcium spike I have had no ill effects from adding sand on top of my old sand. And just for the record I also removed almost all my rock to catch a fish then put it all back completely different. No mini cycle or any other ill effects.

    I think as long as your have sand-sifters there would probably be less anaerobic bacteria lingering down there. And if you get worried that there may be dead spots, mix it up a bit with a gravel vac and let your filters take care of it! But I do agree, I wouldn't go more than 3" unless you are an adventurous curious experimental person and can deal with repercussions..lol

    I was thinking of adding 10lbs of sand due to my goby building a fort out of the sand and then doing a water change tomorrow, good/bad?
