adding oxygen to the water

    in my freshwater tank i used a bubble wall but i dont want to use one in my marine aquarium. all the videos i see of other people aquariums dont have em either. without the bubble wall what adds enough oxygen in the water?

    Turbulence at the top of the tank, generally created by the use of power heads in the display tank. Also if a sump is being used with proper flow, additional aeration occurs through that circulation process. There are a lot of good threads here that will tell you all about turn over rate, powerhead placement and that type of thing.

    ok i will have power heads i just didnt know if that was enough to do it for the whole tank, and i assumed the protein skimmmer would add a small amount of oxygen

    Oxygen is added by surface agitation of the water. Not by bubbles. The only way bubbles "add oxygen" to the water is when they pop at the surface disturbing and moving the surface of the water. It's called oxygen exchange. Point a powerhead at the surface of the water and there will be lots of oxygen exchange in the tank.

    Point your powerheads so the agitate or ripple the surface.

    Once you have that skimmer you won't have to worry about it. ;)

    Not at all. The bubble wand is the first thing most of us looked at and didn't understand not needing it coming from FW. I know I asked the same question.
