Hi i want to add a new fish to my tank just dont know which one yesterday i saw the purple tang in my local store but not sure if it will get along the ones i have.

I have a 72 bowfront with, Yellow tang, 1 yellow tail blue tang (dori), 2 clown fish, 1 damesel, 1 lawnmower blenney, 1 red spoted goby, 1 wrassel.

Please help me decide my tank is a reef based tank with plenty of corals. If its not the purple tang what do you recomend me to add something new.

I also saw on the store that got my attention the powder brown i liked it so what do you think.

The Yellow Tang and Purple Tang may fight for a bit until they figure out which one is boss.

If I were you I would go for the purple. Yes they will go at it for a little because the more dominant tang will show him whose boss. Just monitor them once you put them in. As for powder brown if you are interested do some research first. They are like powder blues, super quick to get ich. Aslo make sure if you really want a powder brown or blue that they are the last in the tank. I had bought a powder brown about 4 months ago and had it for about two months. When I added my coral beauty he almost killed it. He even claimed the tank as his and he bullied my black tang to the point where he was no longer the boss and my powder was the new one. All the tangs are beautiful however some are more bad tempered than others.

3 Tangs in a 72G is a lot of fish. I would reconsider the Tang and maybe go with a smaller fish

Agreed. I only have one in my 90g. Thinking about getting another, but that would be the max. Tangs need a lot of room.

I was thought the same thing as soon as I read your post. Sometimes you just have to live without.

2 tangs in that tank are too many much less 3. i would steer clear of the purple becaue they can get pretty grumpy for one and two they need a lot of room and a lot of food. Tangs eat a ton and need all of that food to survive. just my .02
