I have a 2" sand bed right now, I want to take and get some more sand and make the one side of my tank slope down from about 5"-3". I have a system that will basically clean my sand in a 5 gallon bucket before I put it in. Now my tank just cycled and I don't have much in it besides my CUC and LR.

Would it be safe to add sand to my tank?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Now seems like the ideal time to add it. If you test for water parameters and notice any elevation in ammonia just do a water change. If the tank was more mature I would advice you to add it in stages.

    Good luck

Sand won't change anything in your tank, as long as it's clean, new sand. Worst you'll experience is cloudiness for a while until it settles.
