I think it will be ok I did that my self awhile back just add it slowly,so you won't get sand on all your rocks and stuff.

Be careful you don't land yourself right in between a functioning DSB and a non functioning one.

I keep less than 2 inches in the display and stir it frequently as it is not a DSB. 3-4 inches will put you in a poor situation. If you are going to add to make a DSB, it is recommended you go between 4 and 6 inches ;D

I agree with BL. If you don't put enough in to make an actual DSB, you will have all kinds of trouble with nitrates, etc.

Looking at your set up, I would suggest leaving the sand at 2 ", and putting the money into more live rock. 1-2 lbs. per gallon is ideal, and you will get more "bang" from that then from a deeper sand bed.

well the only reason i asked, was because i was lookin at a pic of my tank, and i noticed that it just didnt seem like i had enough sand... Is it bad to dig LR deep into the sand bed to kinda stabalize the rock? or let me rephrase, is it bad to dig deeply into an established sand bad?

Ideally, the best way is to put your rock down first and then add your sand around it. You should be fine moving the sand to stabilize the rock. Sand does eventually diminish due to routine maintenance and sand can be added at a later time, but like everyone else said, watch how much you add so you don't end up with a problem.
