Looking to add a sump (and poss. fuge) to my 55gal as the next step in getting it converted from FOWLR to reef. Drilling isn't an option for this particular tank, but I don't have very much in the way of space restrictions either.

I've looked at some of the ready-made HOB refugiums and such, and really think it'd be better to build one myself.

I've also found some good info on-line, but nothing really relating size of tank to desired size of sump...or how to contruct without drilling. Any links or other info is appriciated!

    TIA

hey ts i did what you are referring to not too far back. i went to the lfs and bought a cheap 10g tank to use as a fuge for my fifty. there are some very simple diy plans to design one for such a size. i had a local glass place cut me some panels and started siliconing. let it cure for a few days and it was good to go. you definately need a good overflow box setup if you dont want to drill though. this is where i had to fork out some cash. or check ou the one covey made. DIY is the way to go man other places charge too much!
    good luck

You can also use acrylic panels from home depot. Very inexpensive.
