I'm trying to figure out the ideal flow/flow pattern in my tank. Can anyone tell me if this right?

I have 2x koralia 1's on either side of the tank pointed towards the front center and then the return from my sump in the middle (as seen in the pictures) I was wondering if I could hook up a SCWD to my return to create that wakemaker effect. or would it be ok with just loc-line and the flared nozzel.

Instead of using the nozzel, could i use a SCWD? would this be beneficial? also do i have enough flow? my return pump is rated at 350gph.

    Thanks!

One of my smaller tanks (40g) has a very similar configuration, so I would think the flow rate would be adequate in your setup.

Personally if I were you and had a few more $$ to spend, I would get a cheap wave maker, and cycle the power heads with it. That is what I did in my 40g. After I loaded the tank with live rock, I added one more power head and placed it behind the live rock.

As for the SCWD, have heard mixed reviews. Don’t have any experience with them personally.

Hi ermano, I looked at your profile for more info. It says you have a whisper 30 which hangs on the back of the tank. So, where is the return coming from, have you since added a sump? Depending on the Corals you may want in the future, the Koralia 1s may be lacking. You can keep them but adding a Koralia 2 shooting across the top just under the surface will create a nice surface agitation for added oxygen. If you did that then you could move one of the 1s down to go behind the rock in the back. If the return is coming from a sump the SQWD may impede the flow to the point that your pump is over worked and burn it out. SQWDs were intended for power heads.

yeah, the return nozzle is coming from the sump. sorry it's not in my sig but i'm still working out the kinks to the sump but yes, the return is coming from the sump and actually the whisper 30 is there for the time being. But ideally, i want to have soft and some lps corals. Could the return nozzle take care of that koralia 2 shooting across the top? would the 1's on either side be okay? and i'll scrap the scwd idea too...thanks for the input!!

Hey, yes the idea of the Koralia (about 2" from the top) going across the tank in contradiction to the return creates the "wave" or turbulent flow like the ocean. Achieving that and some flow through out the entire tank is the objective.
