adjusting aquac remora with mag 3 pump

    I replaced my mj1200 on my aquac remora about a week ago. I had to put a ball valve on to adjust the flow, The mag 3 is extremely strong. I backed the flow down a little but I still can't get a high quality skimmate. It is light green and very wet skimmate right now. Any one have any suggestions how to get a dry skimmate from this set-up. Any info will be greatly appreciated.
