    Ah keyword..... people :)

It's only human to think for marine life and give them the benefit of having a similar idea, but they really don't care.

If you read through the papers you'll see repeated talk about marine snow, and fish poop (partially digested zooplankton for the most part) being a decent chunk of some corals diets. Neither of those is alive and corals could care less.

A large chunk of aquaculture uses algae paste. Besides the fact it's a major money saver for them, it also performs better for the culture and enrichment of rotifers and other zooplankton. It's also highly used in the aquaculturing of bivalves. They don't tell the difference, so how can a human?

Recent studies in the Phycology realm have shown ~60% of oceanic phytoplankton to be non-viable. To many non viable means dead since it can no longer reproduce and the motile algae are no longer motile. Several of the "non live" phytos on the market are in the same state. Not dead, but can't reproduce.

Oh not at all. Whatever gets correct information to the thread starter to make a decision. I don't offend easily.

Gresham always makes me re-think my "facts"

No. My corals really do like live phyto and my trachyphyllia radiata's favorite color is purple.

    Reason me that. 8)

Mine prefer long walks on the beach and cuddling with zooplankton at night :)

Purple? What kelvin does it prefer?
