Advice Needed on Refugium Light Please.

I have a 2.5 gallon refugium with cheato. I have a coralife 18 watt light over it with two pc 9 watt bulbs. My bulbs got old and the cheato growth slowed way down. I just bought four replacement bulbs for the fixture. Two 10,000k and two 6,700k bulbs. Should I run s 10000k and a 6700k or two 10000ks or two 6700k's? Which bulb combo is best for the cheato in my fugue? I know the 6700 are for planted tanks and cheato is a plant. Thanks 3 reef.

 

Both 6700k bulbs.

 

I'm using a GE 6500k for my fuge. 6500k is better for algae growth than higher K bulbs.

Definitely 6700k bulbs, I didnt get much or no growth from my 18watt coralife fixture, my best luck is with the standard cfl at 5000k 13w bulb 60w equivalent in a shop fixture. I give that stuff away now, went from a small clump to a basketball in 2 months

 

It was growing great when the bulbs were under six months old. I was pulling out a big handful every couple of weeks. At about six months the growth just stopped. I'm pretty sure I reached the maximum effective use of these bulbs. We'll see. I just took out the 10k and put I'm my other 6700k.

 

Talk to your lfs before you give it away. I take my lfs bags and get store credit. They give me $5 a handful.
