I plan on setting up a rubbermaid fuge below my BioCube29. I need advice on my equipment buy list and anything else I may be forgetting. Do I need to have baffles? How do I mount the lines going into the rubbermaid bin?

    Equipment List:
    1. Oceanic return pump (243gph) as return to tank. I will be using 1/2" rubber tubing for the piping with 2 U connectors.
    2. 2 Ball valves to adjust flow to and from fuge.
    3. Check valve for return line to tank.
    4. 10-15 gallon rubbermaid bin.
    5. Heater
    6. Flourescent light I have leftover from a 10 gallon tank.

I'd get a mag 2 or 3 or 4 for the pump and as for trying to control the flows in and out of the sump with that is impossible you will have a flood just waiting to mess the floor up. You have to ,make a overflow box to control the water too the sump. If a special small size is needed for the overflow and you can't find one let me know we can build you a good safe one. to fit the space you now have. But Don't ever try to siphon water to a sump and depend on a pump to return it at the exact same rate the other line is feeding the water . Can't be done Well at least not where I'd have to clean it up..Oh and if you want to try this anyways ? Use Globe valves or even Gate valves ball valves can't be fine tuned all the easily. Again good luck with it.

The Tangster sums that one up your up to mopping and vacumning up all the water it may work for the moment but it wont work all day I bet. I have made so many mess's doing stuff like that I now drill all my tanks I dont even trust overflow hang on overflows anymore I have had them just loose siphon and the tank be just like a no edge tank all over the floor. not pretty with a 180 gallon tank and 300 gallon sump.

Glass Cages has some nice tanks be sure to inspect before signing for them though they wont fix it if its broken after you sign for it. MY frag Cube is from there it works awesome I have 2 - 1inch bulkheads in it and it flows nicely. If your going to use a rubbermaid get a small stock tank they can stand the water in it. and most are drilled already.
