I have a 24 inch tank with an RGB LED unit from Reef Breeders. There are 55 diodes on the unit, 2 of which are red, 2 of which are violet, 2 of which are green and the remainder are whites/blues.

I would like to bring out the purple and reds a little more. How many and which of the white and/or blue bulbs should I replace?

I was thinking two more reds and two more violets (maybe two more greens two). What are your thoughts and suggestions?

I'd cruise ebay, or look at ecoxotic stunner strips, how much do you want to spend?

Snag a cheap dimmable driver for 10-12 3W led, potentiometer, and the led emitters from ebay. Get some cheap bridglux emitters if you just want a little supplemental lighting. Probably could get it all for around 40-50 for 10-12 3W led's.

I wouldn't even need them dimmable. I am toying with the idea of removing a few white/blue leds from my Reefbreeder unit and replacing them with reds.

I don't know how many reds you really want on that, from what I hear, they don't add much for growth, I have 2 reds mixed in with about 30 other leds on my 1 heatsink and that is PLENTY

I'm not looking for growth, just color. My reds and purple was out. Blues and greens pop.

I'd just do a 12 led aquastyle add on, on a cheap timer, like 8 violets/uvs, 2 reds, 2 cyan, should be around $100

Well, I talked with Reefbreeders and he's being rather generous with the diodes so I decided to go this route instead.
