    The toughest question of all....

I was just given a 100 gallon tank with all the goodies.... stand, pumps, heater, lights, etc.:)

My question to the most expert of experts is this...

How do I hide it from my WIFE ? :-/

    Have a great weekend !!

Ohhhhh good luck with that one.

I'm still telling myself that all my tanks are invisible and my fiance knows nothing about them....ignorance is bliss.

if you tell them that you got it for free they will nag about u bringing trash home, if you told me that you paid for it and they will thing that you stupid and would pay for something used, best of all, i would just go ahead and set it up and wait for their reaction, just told them it appears out of no where and i just have to bring it home.

Um might i suggest' you tell the wife" its a small jacuzzi with the right placement of the powerheads lol , you could "wow her"
or perhaps tell her it's a life or death experiment that you must undertake with the utmost zeal !

but hey' ive been in the dog house my self (sevral times ) LOL , the out landish and most outlandish excuse you come up with ' the more likey you are to succeed ,
your wife will just say to her self ' its better than replacing me with a younger much vibrent woman that would allow you to do such things . LOL LOL

Place assorted palms and other lush vegetation strategically around the tank.
Place a huge red bow on it and say happy anniversary or happy birthday! This is a way of incorporating your wife into the picture, so that it isn't all about your wants and desires. Maybe she will be happy that you thought of her! But then again...maybe not...anyway, lets continue!
Say that you are just testing the tank for a friend!
Say you received it as a free gift and your thought process is to make sure that everything works fine(requiring full set up and livestock introduced), then you will make a killing on it when you sell it years down the road(she doesn't need to know the time limit involved with this down the road timetable, however.
    Do Nothing!
You are incorporating a Caribbean Reef motif into your house's decor, so I got this tank as a free gift to help us get started!
Tell your wife, you will gladly sleep on the couch if you can set up the larger tank, that you received for free, you may add again to stress the point!
Say you thought long and hard about what to do with the money we are going to receive from the economic stimulus package and her you go...what do you think?
    I love you dear!
By the way, I cleaned the house for you and bought you some nice tropical plants!

Love the responses...just adding a little levity to the day..
I'm taking possesion of it today..hopefully. I will just stow it away in the shed and get the sight of it over with....and of course let her know that its an investment for the future...just in case I (whoops "we")want to build a bigger tank......Then I can keep nursing the little 30 and keep showing her photos of all the wickedly wonderful tanks in the forum.....then just bring it in and set it up while shes at work ! ..thats it.....I got nuth'n man.... If it works out like the boat or the motorcycle, I'm in for a few cold nites.

    cio 4 now ; )

Tell her you wear the pants in the family and if she doesn't like it then tuff.

Now after this make sure you have something easy to cook for the next couple of weeks and you may have to do your own laundry for a while too but it will pass. :p
