I'm in the same boat but I'm leaning towards the reef keeper lite.
The reef angel seems to be much more DIY and would take a lot of time to enter code (something that I have no idea how to do) the rkl is more plug and play.

Most of the basic functions for the Reef Angel are handled with the new Wizard. I haven't done any actual coding myself, yet. I'm controlling all lights, temp, pH, water level and wavemaker. Unless you're doing something that's new, chances are there is existing code for most everything you want to do. It's just a matter of copying and pasting code into your program.

With the wifi option, I'm able to view and control all of the functions from my phone, at home or away. I have it set up to send alerts to my phone if the temperature or pH is out of range. By far the best investment for the reef tank I've made. Clearing up the rat's nest of wires is nice, too.

I am a big Reef Angel fan as well. Have two of them; one for my 55 and one for my JBJ 28. They should be just as much plug and play as an RKL, but once you learn how to reprogram it, all bets are off :)

Yes. Every time you modify something with the Wizard, it saves the file with the current date. You can go back through all of the files if you would have a need to restore one, or to look up past code.

It comes with the probe, but I'm not sure about the floats. They're inexpensive, anyway. I had a JBJ ATO running, then upgraded to the water level expansion, which is a pressure switch ATO, similar to what Avast sells.
