As long as regular water changes are done, strontium, magnesium, and the other less known trace elements are replenished with the water changes alone. Calcium and buffer will be used by a clam a lot quicker than these other elements.

LOL, I saw that... I was like lord I need alot more OT for that.

The lighting is T5HO, Coralife. a 4x bulb fixture and a 2x bulb fixture. Also getting a LED moonlight in the future as well.

As for calcium, I already Dose the tank to keep it around 420-450. It keeps my shrimps very happy and their molting process nice.

The clam i was looking at is Saltwater Aquarium Clams for Marine Reef Aquariums: Gold Maxima Clam - Aquacultured I dont know why but I'm in love with gold, and its on sale :) and little so I can watch it grow.

Gold maximas are a great way to "try" out a clam. Of all the clams they are the cheapest, so if it doesn't work, you wouldn't be chucking 300 bucks away;)

I have an ultra gold maxima (looks light green), as well as a light blue maxima. I need to move them to the rocks at some point, but they are perfectly happy on the sand for now.

Definitely treat yourself for your B day!

One of my favorite B day gifts was one to myself a few years back. I bought my motorcycle for my B day in 2003.
