I have had it with having my dear damsels in my tank.
They are destroying my corals. I am trying to figure out how to keep just the corals without fish.

I have my goby which I want to keep. But can I keep my tank with only corals in it? Or do I have to have the bio load from the fish in order to keep the tank balanced.

Can someone help me figure this out. I love having my corals.

I started this because I wanted the goby....

You can have a tank with only corals, providing you have the cleaners, say a few shrimp, snails to take care of the algae, sand etc.
But if you want to have a tank with a few fish, like the goby (is it a diamond goby? because theyre cute) and have a few dispar anthias (make sure you have 1 male and several females or blue/green chromis.

yes, yes i know blue/green chromis are in the damsel family but admit it, theyre lovely to watch when they swim in a group.

what size tank do you have?

its a 46 bow. currently I have one shrimp, several crabs, a clown, one yellow tail damsel, the black damsel, and the brown one. I also have several snails.

I do have the sand, and about 60lbs of live rock. my picture is my tank.

I am just having a problem with what I spend on the corals and watching them get dumped over, buzzed non stop, and the darn clown is now trying to host my brain coral. He gets in the curves of it and just stays there.

I went to the Bass Pro shop and got a real tiny fish hook and fished all my Damsel's out of my 55. Except the blue green chromis. The are a very cool schooling fish. The clown also are in the damsel family but not aggresive. I have a tank that has been up for three year's and has yet to have a fish in it. The coral's are doing awesome and have no fish poop on them. lol If that's what you want and have a good C.U.C. go for it. A skimmer is still a good idea.

Thanks for the info. I do have a skimmer already hooked up. My clown is what I believe hosting my brain. It keeps it upset because it is always in it.

its actually really common to do this in the hobby. most people just add the fish so they have something they can watch. i dont think that there would be a problem with a balance like you said. get a cleanup crew still so they will clean the corals.
