I got some fish, clam, sps, softies, shrooms, acans, favia and chalices. I have close to 80 gal of H2O circulating btn fug, refg. and dt.

I just did a water test....
    Salinity: 1.025
    Temp: 78.7
    pH: 8.4
    Alk: 7.4
    Calc: 430
    Mag: 1230

I have been trying to raise my Mag for several weeks. It went down to 1100 and it is taking way too long. I almost use up the dry tropic marine powerd that I bought (small one).

Here are some questions for people who are having success w/ all of these combo above:

    1) I am going to raise it up between 1300-1400. Is that a good number? So far, I have read that I need to rasie the Mag first, then Alk, and then Calc. I dosed more of the mag. powder today and later, added a bit of baking soda (using this to raise alk for now). Suggestions or tips appreciated.

    2) Any of you guys/girls put any coral food like marine snow, DT, cyclop, oyster eggs, and etc.

    Thanks!!

    I keep my levels as follows;

    Mag.....1400-1500ppm
    Cal.......400-500ppm
    Dkh/Alk......10-14

If your going to dose baking soda, your going to have to also use borax(according to Tangster). He says to mix it 4/1 4 being BS and 1 being Borax. Pm Tangster to get a better mix ratio.
I do use Marine snow for yrs now and I think it works great. I also use Reef Solutions for trace elements. Luna

BTW....Is your Alk at 7.4? Or is that Dkh? If thats your alk, thats really high. My Dkh is between 10-14, which is 3.62-5.01 Alk. Which one is it? Luna

Alkalinity and dkh are the same thing. So, if you are spending extra time testing one or the other it's the same thing. Just a different measurement.

For alk I dose a 4 to 1 mix of baking soda and borax. Works great and it is easy to use.

Cool, just wanted to make sure you weren't spending extra time/money on a seperate test.
