my poor true percula clown has been the only fish in my tank for 3 weeks and im afraid he might be aggressive. is there a chance that i could put him in QT for a few weeks and then reintroduce him to the display tank to stop any aggression to the new fish?
i havent bought any other fish yet, im just looking for a solution before i have a problem

    Seems very reasonable.

First you might want to try moving the scape around a little if possible, before introduction of another fish.

BTW the clown fish is probably a female or on it's way to becoming one.

What type of fish do you want to add?

well i havent begun putting fish in it but was thinkin i would start with some that arent aggressive by nature and then finish off with a trigger eventually. its a long process but ill prolly start with either a couple of tangs or something hardy and less aggressive.

It's not uncommon to remove a clown that is established while other passive fish acclimate. You could also just use a breeder trap in the display, it's an easier way to catch the clown, easier to re-introduce and less stressful on the clown.

yesterday i added another fish to my tank. its a coral beauty and as soon as he settled in the clown fish decided to joyride around my tank instead of claiming his spot in the corner. he seemed like he might have just been bored and lonely. im thinkin about gettin the other clown he was tanked with at the store and see if they will be fine together. so far so good! :)

Just watch close when you add the other clown, I bought the last 2 from a tank at the store and put them in my reef tank that had an anenome and within 2 days one killed the other. I though for sure they would be fine because they were swimming together in the store but didnt work out that way.

ive been back to the lfs quiet a few times since and the other clown is swimming in the corner. when i bought the one clown they both were swimmin around but once they were seperated the one in the store and the one at home both claimed a top corner of their tank... kinda odd but they werent sellin them as mated...
hes eating more now too but hes found his way back to that corner again. i guess the angel wasnt enough for him :(

Unless you have a fairly large tank, once the clown fish start to mature a pair will form and the third clown will most likely become a victim of bullying if not killed. As for the LFS saying they were selling a mated pair, it's only a mated pair after they have spawned, which happens around age 2 for the female.
