How long do you think it is safe to keep saltwater circuilating in a brute for....couple of weeks...months... indefinitely?!?

Mine starts stinking after about 3 weeks. I usually like to use mine up in a 2 week period.

I concur. I'd say 2 weeks at the max.

I left a 5 gallon batch brewing for a month once, before I had an RODI unit, and it was cloudy, and the bucket developed a slime coat inside. I did use RODI water too.

You can store RODI water for months and months just fine.
Kona, mix up a salt batch a day or two before a water change and you'll be good to go.
