Ok, so I got a little ahead of myself and bought some colony polyps,
button polyps, green fluorescent mushrooms, bullseye mushrooms, and glove polyps for my 24g jbj nano that has been up and running for about 4 months.

I also bought a 24-Gallon Nano Cube HQI Canopy upgrade kit that has 150w MH with a 14k bulb.

First question: will this new upgrade kill the Polyps and mushrooms due to excess light? Will putting the mushrooms on the bottom solve the problem?

Second question: Is this enough light for bubble tip anemones?

    THANKS!

Keep the new light on for a shorter period of time and increase it back up. Or keep it raised higher above the tank and slowly lower it to where you can clamp it to the aquarium over a period of a couple weeks.

Light I would say yes, aquarium size I would say no. But anything will work if you monitor it close enough and take very good care of your system.

It is definetly enough light for BTAs, will it kill the mushrooms or stress the other corals? Good chance. I would start the new light with only a few hours on per day say 4. Then a few days later work to 5. Then work to 6. Just SLOWLY increase the light of the HQI until you are at the cycle you would like. Some run HQIs for 6 hrs while others do 12. You need to find a medium that works for you and the tank. For example in my 180 I have mushrooms that are literally hiding under rocks on the bottom of the tank because of T5!!

Of all the people I have met with HQI in bio cube settings the mushrooms would literally melt. They just switched to SPS!

    Good luck and happy reefing!

This lighting will be an awful lot for mushrooms and polyps. If I were you I would switch over to stoney corals, mostly SPS, but maybe a couple of brains on the sand bed, although I'm not sure if the tank is ready for SPS at only 4 months. I would think it is as long as you maintain water quality. Another thing you have to be careful about with that strong a halide on that small amount of water is temperature. You may have to run a chiller.

In my 36 gal I have 250w MH and my mushrooms and polyups do fine and reproduce like mad. It did take them time and I started them out in the shade. The mushrooms moved around a bit but they are all doing great. I do relize your tank is a bit smaller but just wanted you to know that small tanks with big lights are possible.
