So, I did a bit of impulse buying tonight ><.

To be fair, EVERY fish in the store was 25% off! So, I controlled myself as best I could and avoided buying any corals (They were 25% off as well, but I'm thinking I should wait for a more established tank :p). What I did buy, and intended to buy, was a couple of snails. What I ended up buying and didn't come in to buy were a emerald crab and yellowtail black blenny ;D. This time I went ahead and asked the guy to give him some food to see if he was eating, and he was happily doing so. I bought the crab because I really wanted some sort of crab, and I hear they eat some hair algae and bubble algae, which I have plenty of right now ><

Anyway, my blenny is looking good so far, and he's really beautiful. I wish I could get a picture, but I just don't have a good camera, so you'll have to trust me on this one ;)! My crab looks like he's doing fine as well, and my snails, as I kinda expected, are still clutching tightly inside their shells. I'm sure I'll see them moving about by tomorrow :)

Conrats on your new additions, take some time to research what they need to survive. Luna

Oh I already did, so I'm way ahead of you on that one :p. From what I read, yellowtail black blennies spend most of their time grazing on live rock, and also accept live/frozen mysis (which I have plenty of). Like I said, he happily ate when I asked the guy at my LFS to feed him. Also, I have plenty of algae for the crab and snails 8).

Nice self control. My emerald crabs don't usually touch anything but algae, but watch out. I have a huge emerald, and as soon as I put any coral in the tank, he takes one bite of it and never looks at it again. Point is, there not always as reef safe as people say, but they shouldn't cause any trouble. I love blennies, and they're not too much work. Good choices.

The blenny is loving the formula 1 flake I put in there, and my crab finally found my rocks, so things are looking good :).

emerald crabs are opportunistic feeders, yes. However, as long as their is enough algae or leftover food laying around (which there usually is in most tanks), the crab won't bother trying to snag a fish/coral/hermits/snails, etc.
