hey everyone, Im going to update my lights pretty soon here. From everything I've looked at the ai nano sol seems to fit what I'm looking for pretty well. opinions would be appreciated. I have a 20 gal. I'm looking for a few things in these lights:

-light powerful enough for me to put ANYTHING I want into my tank (clams, sps)
-When I upgrade my tank I want to be able to bring this into my new setup. even if I have to add another light, I want this to still be usable
-cost effective. all together the unit+the controller is $380

I'm still learning about this stuff. Would the light spectrum be good enough to keep my corals healthy?

Thanks for all the help guys. Don't be afraid to OVER explain or dummy it down;)

It is really an AI SOl, cut in half. For not much more, you can get a full sized SOL. You didn't actually say if you have a 20L, or a 20H for example. A single SOL, either full or nano, really won't cover a 20L, unless you raise it up high and then, you would only have enough light for less demanding corals and a lot of light on the floor and back wall. So, 2 nanos would be better. If it's a 20H, the nano doesn't have much penetrating power, so, it depends what you want to keep, but again, if you want to keep anything demanding, you'd be better off with a single SOL full size.

Here, for a better explanation, this is from Sanjay's Reef lighting guide, on Manhattan reefs. Manhattan Reefs - Sanjay's Lighting Guide

For demanding corals, you probably want 200+ PAR ideally. So, from here, 24" from the fixture, of a full-sized SOL, that only buys you an 18" area. A nano will be roughly 1/2 the PAR, as it uses the same leds an is half the power. Also light is pretty predictable, if you cut the coverage area in half, buy lowering it, you would have twice the PAR, raise it to cover twice the total area, you'd have half the par.
