AI sol and t5 supplementation

Anyone know of a good vho retro kit? Can you run vho and t5ho off the same ballast?


I've settled on either going with led supplementation our with 2ati purple + and 2vho true actinic.(I think vho actinic looks better.)

 

The new coralvue 660 or icecap 660 will run both t5 or vho but it will overdrive the t5 bulbs. Overdriving may help since you are putting them so high, but will shorten the life of the bulbs.

 

I have found most of what I need at marine depot.com

4 tek2 reflectors
2 icecap 660 -009 ballasts
2 t5ho ati purple plus
2 vho uvl true actinics

Where do I get the end caps? Is there anything else I need? (besides mounting ...)

 

I think marinedepot sells the end caps and standoffs. You may also want to look at reef geek for your retro kits.

 

bought mine 3yrs. ago from reefgeek- good retro kit w/ waterproof endcaps, good miro reflectors and icecap 660 ballast.

 

I have settled on adding 2 VHO true actinics and 3 ATI Purple+ bulbs with LET reflectors and using Icecap 660 ballasts. I am going to mount the AIs *** to *** darn near touching each like this -----. Should be about the same length with 5 of them as the 60" T5/VHO bulbs!

Anyone have any suggestions or comments about this setup? I guess the only way to know if it's too red is to install it and see. It's going to be a hell of a project getting all this in my canopy!

 

I can wait to see what it looks like. I think T5s with LEDs are a great combo for coloration and of course par.

Not that you really need anymore par with the AI's...

 

Yeah, I'm not overly worried about raw par. I have tons of that. But I am starting to think there is some PUR in the red/green that I don't get.

My corals all looks great just the tank looks cold. I think visually this should be pretty awesome. And having the lower end blue from the VHO should help really make the corals pop! I can't wait to see what it looks like all together!
