I'm really happy with my Vega's. The color looks great and my corals are looking brighter than with the Sols (which I liked). I'm running a program that shifts the spectrum from blue in the morning to whiter at midday and back to bluer in the evening.

It looks neat, but I have no idea if its a good choice. I have very little empirical data and I can find very little on the web.

Has anyone done any testing or seen any articles on what programs are having/are likely to yield the greatest success in coloration and growth? I love having variables to play with, but ofcourse the problem with having them is you frequently play aimlessly with no real basis for the changes.

I'd love to find a firm recommendation to use as a baseline.

No real testing, but I can offer some observations:

I have 2 AI SOL Superblues over my 55g. I do the same thing, start with royal blues, then bring in blues, then whites then back down to eventually only royal blues.

My blues peak around 65% and whites peak at 30%. I noticed that if I do any more white throughout the day, I get more algae and my corals tend to fade a little. After I dialed whites down, over time coral colors got more saturated.

Overall they seems happy at 65% B/RB and 30% W in my tank. It's 22" deep and lights are 6" above water.

I have 4 AI Vega Colors in boxes waiting for my new 125G. Definitely will follow this thread. Hopefully someone has more scientific advice/experience and chimes in.

I loved my Sols until I got the Vegas. I still think very highly of the Sol, but the Vega is even better. You'll enjoy them.

    **crickets**

Look, if this is true, its kinda scary, or at least interesting. I know Vivid was trying to figure out the best settings at one point. Has anyone else looked into it?

Not just "what is the suns spectrum," but what LED settings work best?
