I tried dripping some lemon juice on them and then pulling them off with a screwdriver.
Most of them are in a whole in the rock and retract. Then when I try to pry them out they rip open and get all gushy stuff everywhere... is that bad?

the lemon juice has to be injected into them.

yea they will rip open just scrape all the pieces. in the future when your tank cycles the peppermints will clean up after you u.

try burning them with a torch like i suggested, you can get a small spot extremely hot.

just the pieces where its out of control. but id definitely put it all into a QT tank so you can manage it there instead of letting it start growing elsewhere in the display like the glass....

there in the QT you can decide whats worth nuking and whats worth spending the time to kill the aiptasia. the blowtorch works well for this too. tried it before i decided to go the route of nuking all the rock my buddy gave me. it became a chasing game. id kill off 3-5 anemones and within a week 2 more would sprout up elsewhere on the same piece of rock.

i dunno maybe im crazy for nuking all my rock. there wasnt any coral on any of it though, so i didnt mind the rest of the algae dieing.

edit: i used a rubbermade tub, not actually a QT tank but i had a powerhead moving water and kept the water params in check with water changes for the week i messed around with trying to kill off the individual aiptasia.

Ok. I pulled as many off of the chunks of rock that I could and put them back in.
There are 3 or 4 that are so bad that I am going to NUKE them... what would happen if I just left them out in the 93 degree sun?

Don't know how patient you wanna be, but I would try to kill anything over an inch and then buy a crap load of peppermint shrimp and never feed them til the rodents are all gone. They won't eat anything bigger than an inch so you'll get to take out some anger on them yourself. Wish ya luck. I'm glad you posted that, cause I was just sitting here freakin' out over the "1" aiptasia I found near my frog spawn.... I feel better knowing about your infestation. lol. Good luck friend.
