I wonder what would happen if I did a total blackout for a week?

The kid who sold me the rock said he talked to our local LFS and they have a fish that will eat hundreds of them in a week for $20. He didnt say the name though. I gotta call him back.

maybe a butterfly fish of some kind, I have heard a racoon will eat both of them. But also corals so it must go back eventually.

they tend to be reef-safe unless your unlucky but I also don't think they eat majanos(they may though). They are more likely to go after lps and some soft one like(xenia and zoas) then sps

honestly I think you are blowing this incident out of proportion if you are still worried about this. The fact that your tank is still new leaves you with sure fire ways to remove them. If there was ever a time for you to get a bunch of aptasia is now when you have no corals or fish.

I see what your saying. Because I have no corals I can probably let a bunch of stuff clean it up, even if it took months. In reality I wasnt even planning on doing corals for a long long time, maybe over the winter.

+1 for the torch. If I can get the infected piece out of the tank easily, it's what I use.

For spot torching, go with a BBQ lighter style benzyne torch. You get a narrower flame so you can zap them even if they are close to something beneficial that you don't want to suffer from friendly fire.

Grill them until there's no more smoke coming off of them.

I'd do that for all the larger ones, and then get some peppermint shrimp to feast on the tiny ones.

A lot of people think that torching them is a bit unorthodox, but it's much quicker and more reliable tham messing around with a syringe/boiling water/lemon juice/whatever. It's also REALLY satisfying. ;-)

    Cheers.
