aiptasia discovered..HELP!!

    i did the same thing, i didnt feed the tank for 2 days threw in 2 shrimp and over night boom all gone lol

    when I go get them from Todd, my LFS guy, I tell him "gimme the hungry ones!" lol

    I had a major "bloom" of aptasia about a year ago in 1 90gal and added 5 TRUE Peppermint shrimp and it took them a few days to eat all of them. But they did not eat every last one because they are smart and become "Farmers"; yes they leave a couple to eat at thier convienance LOL
    I am down to 2 of them for the past 7-8 months....I assume they died due to no food and they 2 stronger ones survived.

    Interesting experment that does work and keeps them in control but as long as they are alive you will always have 1 or 2 aptasia :)

    Copperband Butterflies usually work well to help control Aiptasias in reef tanks. Whenever I see any Aiptasias in my tanks, I inject Tropic Marin Elimi-Aiptas directly into the stalk as opposed to into the mouth. I find that the product has a better kill rate when injected into the stalk rather than the mouth and it has worked well for me.
