So I saw this thing growing about an inch from my zoas, no big deal since it looked just like the zoa colony. Problem is it's not a zoa, it's a freakin' aiptasia. I've been watching it thinking, wow it's getting bigger every week! Ok duh, not something I want living in my tank.

It resides on a coral skelton with my zoas but it's pretty close so sawing that piece off or boiling water might not help. Any other ideas?

I found aiptasia x works real good. I have a good sized eagle eye zoo colony that had allot of aiptasia growing around the polyps. I never had luck with kalk paste. The trick is to make sure you get them right in there mouth as the aiptasia x will melt them within mins.

I take it a pair of tweezers and quick snag of this thing won't do the trick?

If you do that, youll most likely end up with a bunch more to deal with, seeing as how, their little tenticals will float away and spore more.

nope, when aiptasia feel threatened they release seeds(can't think of the proper term) and that would spread your problem. I used aiptasia-x, and it worked.

deal with it fast before it releases its spores into your water column. otherwise you're screwed and will be seeing them sprouting up all over. if this is 'new' growth of one in the zoa's then you more than likely have one elsewhere too. what did you introduce to the tank recently? i would check it out for more.

I introduced a coral skeleton with the zoas on there, this thing came up a month later. Since then nothing has been added. Looks like I will be playing nurse and shoot this bastard up.

Good thing in my case, i've been watching it for about a month or so and nothing else has come up so I should deal with this quickly while luck is on my side :)

Thanks for the input to a newbie.
