I recently noticed that a small rock of mine with about 6 button polyps had about 8 of these tiny feather duster looking things growing on it. I believe it aiptasia and from what Ive read they are bad why?? and what should I do with my rock they are pretty small and i dont think i can inject them. Could I cut them off or will they just grow back??

    thanks

they are a pest anemone, grow like weeds and tough to kill, they can sting other livestock.

they probably would grow back. they sell products to kill them like joes juice

in a question like this the search engine at the top is a great way to find what poeple have allready tried, but i like peppermint shrimp, allways seem to do the trick :) or berghia nudibranchs eat nothing but aptasia

I had peppermint shrimp, and IMHO, they were a waste of time and money. Just get some joe's juice or even make your own with kalkwasser and nuke the suckers!

this is good feedback, BUT you will find out that you will get mixed results from different poeple, it can be very confusing but you have to try your own methods and see what works for you. i tried the kalkwasser and it never did a thing for me, but ive had many peppermint shrimp and they have allways done the job.

I would try joes juice first. You dont actually inject it, you just shoot it at them.

+1. Results will and do very! ;D Just in my experience, they never touched aiptasia and were very un-interactive additions to my reef. But some swear by them and really like keeping them. And they are decent scavengers that could make a good addition to your clean up crew. Its really up to you.

It would be fine. As said, all joes juice is, is very strongly mixed kalkwasser.
