I have been battling aiptasia for 4 years now and evey time I kill them 20 more show up.
I have tried aiptasia X 5 times and they don't die.

What is everyone doing to combat this?

Berghia Nudibranch. They are expensive but were the only cure after I had the very same issue you are having now. I'd "kill" them with one thing or the other and a week later have 10 or 20 more.

I put 10 of them in about 8 months ago and they did nothing. I saw one on the glass about a month ago and he was about 1 inch long, so he is feeding, but not making a dent into the aiptasia.

I'm thinking of buying a 1 watt laser pointer and trying to burn them with the laser

5 to 10 peppermint shrimp should do the job, i will always love them from the bottom of my heart, they work for me verywell, some have reported that they will eat certain coral i have not had that problem but, i would probably just remove the coral that he is eating, i have enough tanks that i could do this, they have made reef keeping great again for me don't just buy one, the more the better.

I was thinking of putting the peppermint shrimp in a isolation tank and then one at a time transfer infested rock to that tank to allow them to focus on the rock that has the aiptasia on it.

Thats not a bad idea at all. I have kept them and hated them. They stole food from my corals and when they didnt have food to steal from them they would just eat my LPS corals.... They will destroy aptasia though. So the isolation method could be very successful.

If you added 10 Berghia 8 months ago and still have an issue then something went wrong with either acclimating them and they died, overflow or pumps killed them or you have something in your tank that ate them.

I added 6 breeding size to a 90 gallon just about 3 months ago and there is already a noticeable decline in the aiptasia population. Not to mention I find egg coils at least once a week.

Good luck with the fight though. I feel for ya and know how irritating they can be.

All great advise, you can also boil tank water in a coffee mug in the nuker and hit the ones you can get to with a syringe full, the scalding water blast also kills spores that are released, how ever i have a couple that are to close to a coral or I just simply can't get to them,i've got a couple peppermints and have always heard many good reviews of them eating the aiptasia.....but,they can be hit or miss, mine are two lazy bums that just hang in the rocks waiting till the next time I feed the tank.

this would work if the tank has good water quality and good filter system they are very sensitive and will not live in just a tank of saltwater. i have blastomussa, acans and other lps and they have not touched them now i also feed them very well i don't let them starve they require lots of good food not just glass nems
