So, after fighting a never-ending battle with Aiptasia - I've decided to finally just nuke all the rocks these stupid anemones are on. My question is this - I have about 60lbs of rock in the tank (46 Bow) and about 25lbs of rock have been infested entirely - should I pull all 25lbs at once or would this change the bioload too much. I can just pull 12lbs at a time and then bleach/rinse/repeat until its ready to go back in. I hate to pull the rocks, but I got them all for free so I'm not really out anything and the pods and coralline will definately come back into these rocks once I'm done. Thanks for all your input!!! - Nathan

Im torn on which way to answer this. On one hand it is going to be a big change on you tanks bacteria to take all that rock at once. On the other hand if you wait to take the other half of the rock the rock that doesnt have aptasia may get it. Is this tank already up and running with fish and coral?

Yeah, my tank has been up and running for about 8mo now - a few softies and 3 fish. Tank is a 46 bow. I had originally started with base rock, but then added some LR to seed the base that a friend gave me. I didn't realise at the time about the aiptasia (Nor did I know what it was at the time) - So I have 4 rocks completely covered. (30-50) per rock. It's ridiculous - they haven't spread to much yet, and the ones that do are being eaten by my peppermint. I just can't kill off the large groups and get them to stay gone. I can kill off a few little ones, but just can't keep them gone on the big rocks.

have you tried or researched if you can get a Berghia nudibranch?...they eat exclusively aptasia and will be a good addition to your tank

I have a 37 and had some aptasia issues. Not bad. About 4 or so nems. Go get some peppermint shrimp. Within 4 days mine were gone and have not returned in probably 2 months or so. Plus they are really cool.. one of my favorite parts of my tank
