I found a small aiptasia growing on the side of my open brain coral (radiate). Normally I would inject the thing with some vinegar or lemon juice but its pretty small and I don't want to hurt my coral.

Can that little aiptasia harm the open brain coral? Or can anyone recommend a way to kill the aiptasia without harming the coral?

    Thanks

If you can't inject it (I'd suggest hot water), butterfly's, peppermint shrimp, red legged hermits and some nudibranches will eat aptasia.

If it's just one you can easily inject it with a small amount of lemon juice without harming anything else. Aiptasia X works extremely well but I'm not sure you want to spend $10 or so just to kill a solo aiptasia. I have never tried hot water but I'm sure it would work if you can get it hot enough. I just killed about 30 with aiptasia X and employed 3 peppermint shrimp that cleaned up the rest and my tank is aiptasia free now. Good Luck.

    Thanks for the tip everyone.

I've had some success with lemon juice before but this small aiptasia is right next to my open brain coral. I mean really close. Would the spilled Apt-X or lemon juice harm my open brain coral?
