I just got back from the LFS with a nice piece of LR. Unfortunately, I can see a few aiptasia stalks on it. Knowing that it is nearly impossible to get rid of, I'm torn between drying the rock until it dies or another countermeasure. My though is to take a torch lighter to the stalk. Granted that will kill off the bacteria in the nearby area but preserve most of the life left on the rock. Has anyone ever tried this? Any success?

Upon closer inspection or the rock, I found quite a few stalks. I'm just going to dry it out :( $6 down the drain.

If the rock has no coral on it there is a old trick that works.

Put the rock in tank water in a bucket and fill the bucket with sand. Cover the rock by 2 inches. With in 2 days the pests will poke their head through the sand looking for food and light and basically to dig them selves out of the sand.

Then just pick them up and kill them
