Did you inject the kalk slurry?

I have not had one survive an injection of thick kalk slurry.

IME, Copperbands have more of an issue with eating coral polyps than the issue of some not eating in captivity.
Also, putting any aiptasia killer ON the pests is not as effective as injecting them, regardless of the product you use.

Not the worst solution... For me the best solution. Beautiful fish. Only draw back is it is a picky eater only accepting meaty foods such as brine, mysis, etc

He has eaten all my aiptasia that I have had a hard time with other methods.

Injecting works well.... but with products like joes juice they tend to return. Kalk paste is the only thing I cant comment on since I have never used. I have not seen any picking at my polyps... But I have seen him poke at my clam once or twice. But quickly leaves when he figures its not part of his diet.

In regards to peppermints.... There are quite a bit of unsuccessful stories. In my situation when I used em. I hardly ever saw em. Only time I ever saw was in crevices swaying back and forth like they were slow dancing with themselves. Especially in a tank with aggressive tank mate like tangs or others( even though tangs wont touch em) peppermints unlikely to climb on top of a reef in the open and eat the aiptasia. That IMO is the case for most unsuccessful peppermint stories. Plus if you feed regularly they will be scavenging left overs and will not "hunt" aiptasia if full.

I'll take back saying worst solution. It is a beautiful fish and if you want one for your tank then you can kill two birds with one stone cuz they eat aptasia too.

Yep. Injected the slurry and even watched what appeared to be an implosion. Came right back a day later. Actually tried the kalk a couple of times. The only thing I have found that works is the aptaisa x. It just took a few times. I must have some seriously strong aptaisia. LOL!

No worries now, they are all gone.

I wonder, what exactly is the mechanism of Aiptasia X? Is the "implosion" effect a cramp-like muscle contraction due to toxicity of the paste, or some kind of chemical-physical reaction?
What exactly does kill the aiptasia? The chemical itself via cellular toxicity, or does it starve / suffocate?

Would it do the same to zoanthids if it were to land on their oral discs?
