Aiptasia taking over

Ok Ive been looking for a cure to destroy the Aiptasia that ave completly taken over my tank. I read something about lemon juice which worked on the ones I was able to get but it seems they multiply just as fast as I ill them and I am unable to kill the little ones because Their too hard to inject the lemon juice in to. My question is, is their a chemical I can put in to my tank that will destroy them for good with out having to change my live sand and boil out my LR. Any suggestions would be great thank you.

No chemical or compound that you can add directly to the tank that would kill the aiptasia.

I find kalk paste more effective than lemon juice.

You can also go with peppermint shrimp, just make sure they are not camel shrimp. And sometimes they are behaved but sometimes they go rouge and cause problems with corals.

Over all best to cut back on all feeding if the population is booming. They spread much faster when food is available.

 

Try Aiptasia X is like kalk paste, did it this weekend my self and none came back.

 

I agree with peppermint shrimp. I had the same problem you do with aiptasia. I also found that at first the peppermint shrimp would not eat them. However, I tried the lemon juice on and aiptasia and it killed it. The next thing that happened was the peppermint shrimp came out and went right to the dead aiptasia and started cleaning up the mess. from then on they killed any aiptasia that popped up. I dont know if the lemon juice killing it first had anything to do with it, but it work and they started doing their job. hope this helps.

 

+1 to above posts....peppermint shrimp for the smaller ones and paste for the larger ones...gonna be time consuming but itll eventually be gone...good luck

I've killed aiptasia using a kalk paste and it worked well. I used Mrs. Wages pickling lime and made it into a paste with a little RO water. Squirt with a syringe.

 

+ 1 on what the blowfish above said. however I take mine a step further and add in some crushed red pepper and some hot sauce. microwave it a bit till it s bubbly. then add a bit mroe water if you need. it needs to be like toothpaste. a little glob in their mouths and they are gone forever.

 

Cool, I'll have to try the hot sauce. Wait, I have no aiptasia left. : I will keep it mind if I ever have one POP up again.

 

peppermint shrimp eat them also for chemicals you can use joes juice aipstasia x or you can boil water those all work really well
