i use peppermint shrimp, they seem work just fine, just make sure you go to the LFS that has aiptasia's in there systems so they shrimp know to eat it! and you'll never see one again and if you do you know youve got it covered already! lol

I was just dealing with this two days ago..

The problem I have is in a 14g BC so I didn't want to add any chemicals if at all possible. I HAD one massive Aip (several tiny ones as well), roughly the size of a golf ball, that did it's best to work around all my attempts at killing it..

The first thing I did was use some of my epoxy stick to 'seal' it off in the host rock practically killing it instantly without it being able to drop spores. Well that didn't work. A day after I thought I covered it's base with epoxy it managed to appear on a different side of the rock. :-[

The second thing I did was try the lemon juice method. I went to the local Walgreens in search of a syringe with a needle (wanted to inject the base). I won't mention the conversation I had with the pharmacist on why I needed just ONE syringe (they sell them in boxes of 20-50). I left confident she didn't think I was some druggie but I am convinced she didn't buy my 'I am trying to kill this bad Aiptasia in my reef tank'...yeah right, she thought I was mental. Anyway, loaded up the syringe with .5ml of juice and lined up a great shot right in the base of that massive Aiptasia. It wasn't an hour later that this sucker expands back out. I swear I saw it holding a sign reading "is that all you got?" but I didn't have my camera available to get a pic.

Without wanting to add anymore lemon juice to a nano, I threw a coffee cup with water in the micro for two minutes. Loaded the syringe back up with .5 of hot water and delivered the final blow. It shrunk as soon as I 'shot' it, sucking in that hot water. It instantly dissolved into nothing...kinda like heat to jello. I highly doubt it had a chance to drop any spores but who knows. Spent another few minutes doing the same thing to those pencil eraser sized Aiptasia. They too disappeared instantly. None have come back at the time of me typing this.

A month from now I may have another outbreak due to that method but I doubt it. That extremely hot water is a instant death sentence with no chance of living spores getting away.

Try boiling first, so you dont have to go to the store.
