Just got some yellow polyps a few days ago. Today I noticed there is an aiptasia growing on the rock. Its maybe 1/2".

Is it okay to take the yellow polyps out to scrape the aiptasia off? Is there a better way to get rid of it since it is so small?

    thanks!

scraping will not get rid of them unfortunately...i think this may actually make them multiply. I've heard good things about Joe's juice but I have yet to try it. I believe you can get it at your local LFS or online (directions included im sure)

Frankly I've had a few for about 8 months now and mine have multiplied quite slowly

DO NOT scrape it off. You need to target kill it with Joe's Juice. Your polyps will be fine if you do it right. I had one dead center in the middle of a Zoa rock and none of the zoas were harmed. Just get some Kalkwasser. Mix into solution with RO water. Don't mix into a paste; you are going to need to inject it. Draw it up into a 1cc syringe with something like a 25 guage 1 inch needle. Inject directly into the aiptasia's mouth. You will only inject something like 0.1cc, so you do not need to make a lot to draw up. Some will go into the tank but things will be alright.

Thank you, everyone, for your suggestions.

Is Joe's Juice the kalkwasser? Or is it something else? I assume I can get it at the LFS.

    Thanks again!

Kalkwasser is what is used in Calcium reactors. You can buy a small bottle for about $10. It comes in powder form. Mix in RO water and inject.

The product that Mission uses is a good one as well. I have not used it, but have heard good things about it. Either one will work fine.
