I have the Typhoon. Have had it for about 2 years now. Great product, awesome customer service. I would not hesitate to buy it.

I bought the mity mite from them and really like it. Plus, replacement filters and membranes are pretty inexpensive from them.

I used to have a Typhoon III but switched to a MaxCap and the difference was like night and day.

Small compact systems have drawbacks such as in that one you linked to the DI is a small, horizontal less efficient and lower capacity throw away filter rather than a full size 20 oz refillable vertical filter. Often the throwaways are not available in the preferred micron ranges or resin blends, are usually more expensive and do not last as long as the normal 10" replacement filters in vertical canisters.

Hey guys, what about this one?
5 Stage RO/DI Filter for Saltwater Reef Aquariums

I have the deal closed with him. but Im not sure if its what I want. Its going to run me 20 to ship so total will be like 95 bucks.. not to bad if its what I should get.

My tap water is 082 with a TDS meter.
Has there ever been anyone who was able to use tap water for a reef?

I am leery of used systems. Yes the filters may have been recently changed but if the RO membrane and DI resin have been allowed to dry out thye are both shot and in need of replacement. It also uses a very inefficient horizontal DI and has white housings rather than clear, thats not a deal breaker in itself but most people prefer clear.
Also I don't see a inline pressure gauge or a TDS meter in the deal so you will need to invest in both of those in order to know if its working or not.

I always tell someone when buying a use system to consider it as if they are buying housings only since you have no idea of the filter condition. Unless you know the person, the filter and its usage I would pass.
$95 for a used system which will need at a minimum a TDS meter, a pressure gauge and a DI resin refill vs. a brand new guaranteed system with 0.5 micron prefilter, 0.5 micron chlorine guzzler carbon block, treated and tested 98+% rejection rate 90 GPD RO membrane, dual inline TDS meter, inline pressure gauge, clear housings, 20 oz refillable DI with resin freshly packed the day it is built and shipped, the same capillary tube flow restrictor and more for $145? I think I would go new with the CSP-DI in the ad I linked to earlier.

I asked him about it. He said its about a year old. I asked him about not being used for a few weeks and this is what he said:
It's my understanding that the RO filter is the only one that shouldn't be allowed to get dry (something about the membrane) and the rest are fine. The RO chamber is still filled with water, so should be OK...

The one thing I remember from when I first got into this hobby over 20yrs ago was never cut corners. While $75 seems like a bargain I would still be cautious especially with something that could cause harm to your tank. I would try and spend the extra money for something that is brand new and fresh out of the box.

DI resin must also be kept wetted or moist or it loses its electrical charge. Without a TDS meter you have no idea if either are working though so it may not be the deal you think it is. $95 for the unit and another $20-$25 for a TDS meter, you are already within a few bucks of a much better brand new warrantied product. Its a no brainer to me. Water is the single largest ingredient in a reef system and everything depends upon it, don't cut corners.
