so i picked up an algae/sailfin blenny. Had one once before in my old tank and there was plenty of green algae for him to feed on. In this tank, not so much. I tried supplementing his diet with spirulina tablets, he didnt even seem interested. He is being fairly active which is good, however I would like to provide a good home for him. I am concerned about his picky diet, havent seen him go for flakes, spirulina, frozen mysis shrimp. The only other thing i am thinking is buying a clip and those "algae sheets/flakes" and clipping that in the tank. Much like many people do with their tangs. Any other advice for this picky eater?

I just went through this with an Algae Blenny. He became a new citizen in one of my tanks just as the couple different small algae blooms the tank had started to go into recession.

Not knowing what to do I asked around and came home with some seaweed sheets and some algae wafers.

I placed the wafers (about the size of a pinky nail) on the rocks that I've seen him chomping on looking for algae.

I also took the seaweed sheets and rubber-banded some small folded up strips of the sheet to some small chunks of live rock. I call them my feeding rocks.

It took about 2 days of overfeeding my tank, (without him eating these products) before I saw him take a large bite out of one of the wafers that I had put in for the day. *yes, you have to remove uneaten stuff daily or you will get "bad" aglae blooms.

At first he would bite, then spit. over and over. After about 2 days of that. How he munches on both products.

Id say he prefers, the Green dried seaweed sheets. The ones I bought have Garlic added. I worried for the first couple days, now all is well. Big Belly, Big Poop lol

Well very ironic and unfortunate that this happened. Basically i have a koralia 750gph, and Coral life super skimmer 65g which has great output flow also, and in addition i use (2) Aqueon 125 gph rated powerheads. Basically, I have decent flow without the aqueons but i use them to add a little extra movement around. However both of them don't have the intake cover guard which protects things from getting inside where the propeller is. Very sad to have to come home to this but the algae blenny was head first inside of it. Definately dead. Well turns out i wont be needing to feed him, my fault and i feel kinda bad. Needless to say, I have retired these two aqueon powerheads and will solely be using my 750gph koralia and skimmer output for flow.

    sad :(

I guess im lucky. My algae blenny trys anything i put into the tank. Just depends on the fish I guess. Ive had some picky eaters aswell. Some learn to eat other things some dont in my opinion.
