Just wanted to introduce myself to the site here. I've been in to reef tanks/saltwater for a couple decades now, but have been out of it several years. Looking at getting back into it, and might be picking up a 120 gallon setup over the weekend.

As you have probably heard from other Alaskans, the choices are limited up here. Going to check out a couple places out today, to see what they have for fish and coral selection. Mail order works well for dry goods, but I'm having a hard time with some companies that don't understand that you CAN ship UPS ground to Alaska. They want to charge an arm and a leg. Fedex is the better option, but not many seem to use that.

Anyway, maybe I'll start a thread on shipping options, and if there are any other Alaskans around, they can chime in on their past experiences.;D Looking forward to checking out the whole site.

Might not love it so much right now, although I do. Fort Yukon got to -54 below overnight/Fairbanks -50 below. I'm south of those places, sitting at a comfy -20 below.;D

I am cold weather girl from the mountains. I thought about possibly taking a nursing job up there so I researched the entire state. Also worked with marine mammals and know a couple of people in Stewart at the Marine Mammal Center there. The University in Anchorage looked very nice. The only real thing that put me off was that pesky no light thing.:sunny:
