All is well in the tank. I'm starting to get the tank back where I want it! Most of the algae problems I've been having are pretty much gone. Also I built a new lid from an idea I ripped off of someone else here. It's SO much better than the old egg crate. Looking good man! And good choiceon changing the top. Eggcrate blocks too much light, and there are some fish that can still get thru.

Ohh man its night and day difference, and there are PLENTY of fish that can fit through eggcrate lol. Including the fish you have as your avatar, I know from experience haha.

Got my new bulbs in the other day! I went from a Phoenix 14k 250w with 4 blue odyssea T5s to the Ushio 14k and 4 ATI actinics. Definitely a lot less blue than the Phoenix which is what I was going for. I'm not sure if I like the Ushio better or not yet, but it looks good. My next bulb I'll have to try and find something not as blue as the Phoenix but more blue than the Ushio..hmmm.
    Here's a before and after.

    Try a Radium next time.

I like the Phoenix the best, next Radium. Right now I am running a Ushio and honestly I am not a big fan of the bulb.

Is that 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch mesh?

    I'm pretty sure it's 1/2 inch.

Radium bulb with 2 VHO true actinic and 2 Figi pink t5ho is the most beautiful coloration I have seen.
