Thanks guys. Yeah Tom its called the "aquarium shop" lol. They have always had neat stuff. I was in there a few years back and most their tanks have a good bit of calurpa lol. I sorta wanted to get this teal/orange tongue coral too but no sandbed left lol.
I like it shin, im not gonna lie. Our big hydno was my wifes favorite all time.

Not a whole lot. Got a new blasto, its orange and teal, just trying to stabilize things slowly then set up my doesr pumps. Might order a cool fancy green clam.

So I've been having some tank issues for a few weeks now and I gues the solution is to does a metric crap ton of alk 2 part. I tested my water a couple weeks back and found Ca and Mg to be spot on, but my Alk was around 5.5DKH. So I doesd it up to 8.7 over the course of last week and today..... 5.1 DKH. My squamossa clam doesn't look great, so back to dosing alk.

    Ca 380
    Mg 1280
    Alk 5.1

Are you sure that your alk reading is corret? It would be unlikely to have alk that low, and Ca not super high. Also, what level is your magnesium, or better yet, what were your full test results.

All done with red sea foundation kit. I believe the alk is that low, I've had a problem with low alk since my first tank. I have alot of sps frag, two large acro colonies several good sized montipora colonies and 6 clams. I just don' know why my calcium levels won't fluctuate.

What do you dose now to maintain Alk?

What my doser is set to is equivalent to about 1 dKh over 24 hours, just to maintain a stable level. Alk can drop quickly if you've livestock sucking it up.

    ^ What he said.

My first impression is that you have not been dosing enough. What happens is, when your levels are low, you get them where they should be, then figure out a dosing plan. During this time, the corals are not in 100% growth mode. Once they kick in to full production, your initial dosing plan falls short, then all of a sudden, all of your levels are low. This can take a month or two, depending on how jacked they were in the first place. I had this happen to me twice in the last year. Now that I'm on top of it, I'm dosing nearly double what I initially was.

I haven't been? lol. I'm building a system for my BM triple doser this week and manually dosing 1.4 DKH per day again. Thanks guys. I just dont understand why my alk is getting used and my Ca is not. Most people have it the other way around from what Ive read over the past 10 years.

The Ca is being used up. That's why it's 380, but your alk is so low, the corals can't use any more up. I shoot for 420 10 1500. That gives me a lot of wiggle room. 380 is not so good. :p
