I have a whole bunch of new stuff the past few weeks, but I can't let Hunter have all the plate fun.

    Alex,

I read the entire thread over the last few days. Great detail, great pictures, insight, ideas and awesome sense of humor. You, Shin and Tom (although not Tom as much) actually make me want to move to Montana just to hang out with you guys. As I'm slowly thinking about getting into this hobby, reading the threads from you & Shin are inspiring. I look forward to hear & see more from Alex & Shin's (& Tom, I guess) Excellant Aqurium Adventures!!

Just a little something I keep in the back Cheryl. GOt them from Tom. I literally stole a key and went into his reeftank and cut them off while he was out of town.

Thanks bud, I appreciate it. You probably know though from these threads is that bad stuff happens too. I see alot of people get in the hobby for the highs but the lows are really bad, and most those people pack it in and give up. It can be tough to stay motivated sometimes but when you put in the work and do your research it can be amazingly satisfying.

    Thanks pal, :)

I appreciate the heads up for sure. I totally get that & that's why I'm going to go sooooo slow once I decide to move forward. I figure the more I read & learn the fewer mistakes I will make. I want this to be fun for my daughter & I but I also want to use it as another tool to show & teach her patience, commitment & hardwork. The good stuff is never easy.

Alot of updates, but only one to post now. I built a crummy skimmer stand out of 1/16" acrylic and it was serviceable for months. It was sort of a rush job and I hated it. Well over the past month it has started bending so that my pump uncouples with my skimmer drastically reducing effectiveness. Today I did a big water change and fabricated some 1/4 inch acrylic form fitting to the skimmer body and pump. Now it will be easier to suck out detritus and its solid as a rock!
