Hey Alex…do you have low phosphates? I'm no expert on biopellets but my understanding is that if you don't have both phosphates and nitrates they will not reduce one parameter alone. They work by removing them in a fixed ratio (I think it is like 4 nitrates for every 1 or phosphates or something like that). So in theory, if your tank is phosphate limited the biopellets may not be able to work as well on nitrates alone.

Absolutely. I had a local friend who actually had to dose nitrates to his tank so he could remove more phosphate as his tank was nitrate limited.

Seems crazy to me to dose nitrates, but he did it carefully and it worked.

I know a ton of people who dose nitrates, but the idea of having too low PO4 is really weird.

Ok peeps, new post for the new 3reef site. I have had an issue with Cyanno for years. I did everything, and finaaly went down the list to Chemi Clean. Best thing I have ever done. My LPS are bouncing back and the slime is gone. Here is a current FTS for Cheryl, who has been patiently supporting my dire straights as I fought on against the 2nd worst foe I have encountered in the hobby.

Holy coralline algae batman!!!!!!!The tank looks so much bigger, strange effect. I count 7 fish looks like you have room for more.

The palys and zoanthids look to be doing so well. Nice squamosa Alex.

    Feels good man.

Edit: Oh yeah what are you dosing and how? How are you maintaining those clams and all that coralline?

Nothing right now. I have 2 tangs, 5 wrasse, a damsel, clown, and orchid dottyback in that 125g. That squamosa I'm suripsed is alive honestly. It was in rough shape but loves it up there. It didn't extend a mantle for 3 days..... But looks good now. I can't capture the color of that maxima, its super nice. I have six clams in there now i think?
