Ok, have a little nuisance algae and don't won't to go the chemical route or wait it out?

THIS FISH IS A FREAKING LAWNMOWER!

I recently got a small one for my tank (yes, this means I'll be getting a bigger tank in the future as this fish is more suitable in a 70+ gallon tank. ;) )

and let me tell you, since I started chucking food in my tank, the algae has been growing. I have stringy thick dental floss algae growing off rocks, a little hair algae here and there and some grape caulerpa that has been taking over a few rocks.

IN TWO DAYS, this fish has wiped out a majority of it. He is constantly pounding on algae, even the caulerpa.

    I am psyched!!

It's mellow and unlike the one I had years ago in my thirty, this one isn't that shy. They are supposed to be hardy too and they are really good looking.

If this fish is a good match for your setup, I highly recommend it. :)

Matt, you should see a lawnmower blenny in action. They will strip a tank clean of algea in 1-2 days, plus they don't get much bigger than 3-4 inches. They are also very animated and personable. Ours will sit in your hand if you leave it in the tank! By the way, that Remora skimmer I bought from you was the best deal I've had in this hobby. Thanks again!

Glad the skimmer worked out. :) 8)

Yeah blennys are cool and I've heard good things about them, but my previous experience drew me to the Foxface. I wasn't actually looking for one, but he was small and on sale for around $20, so I caved.

No regrets though, even if he cost me a small fortune upgrading my tank down the road. He gets along with my other fish and has a good personality.

ANd I can't say enough about how he took care of my caulerpa. I had actually started going in with tweezers prior to his arrival. That was going nowhere and getting old fast. [smiley=tounge2.gif]

I love my bi-color foxface...they don't get quite as big as the one-spot or the variegated. This guy is an algae hoover. There are a few sea grass (for want of a better description) type algaes that he picks at but the rest he just chows on. Plus lots of personality!!

Lawn mower blennies have been known to attack other herbivours FWI.

I have 2 lawn mower blennie's, 1 in each tank with tangs and they ignore each other.
