Algae Growth in Sump

    I have some Cyano/ Red Hair Algae in my DT and some in the sump, but none of it grows like this!!!

    Is it normal and should i remove it some how?

    Never heard of red hair algae, but the red slim algae ( cyno bacteria) I see in the pic should be removed. High phosphates, high nutrients and poor lighting are the main causes for such outbreaks.

    It's normal and good that it's in the fuge section of your sump and not the DT.

    Definitely remove every water change.

    I would turn off the light for a few days it has worked for me in the past....

    Well i just siphoned it all out of my sump. Im glad the bulk of it is growing in my sump. I think this is all from the high nitrates left from my cycle. Im doing water changes every few days to get it under control
