Can someone please tell me what kind of algae this is? It is purple, stringy and has lots of bubbles. I'm thinking either cyano or dinos..? Also how should I clean off my sun coral? I was think soft bristled toothbrush(unused obviously)?thanks!!

    Welcome to 3reef.

Cyano and should come off easily with a turkey baster, if it does not it's not cyano or dino.

Thanks for the quick reply. Forgive my ignorance but should I blow it off or suck it up with the baster?

    Sure no problem.

You can blow it off and then remove as much are you can from the tank.

Perhaps increase flow to that area.

Usually cyano comes off fairly easily as does dino. The deep red coloration and matting appearance looks like cyano to me.

That worked almost too well. Thanks a bunch. I will increase the flow.

    Well good then. :)

If the cyano should turn into an issue, there are several good threads regarding it's treatment and you can usually get some good advice.
