I have a 4 yr old soft coral reef. I am just getting a handle on my algae problem and think I am close to getting my skimmer adjusted properly.(4 week old AquaC EV-180) I have hair algae, turf algae, caulerpa and halimeda all in my main tank. I am looking for pointers on how to get rid of the algae in between my zoanthinds. Should I scrub with a toothbrush? I don't want to release any toxins. I feel like I am constantly picking with my tongs and fingers and getting nowhere. Any advice would be appreciated. I forgot to mention my Yellow Eyed Tang, snails, and crabs don't seem to help a bit.

the hair algae between mine eventually died out. there was no way it could compete with the zoas

the algae will not harm the zoas if they are not being covered in it. just get a handle on controlling nutrients. water change frequently, dont overfeed...get that remora (good skimmer) going. im sure you know all of this already.the algae will go away on its own over time

Algae WILL/CAN cause an issue with zoas. A soft tooth brush is a good start.
