Algae is starting to grow in my tank?

Im having algae problems in my tank. I only have my tank up for almost two weeks now and theres a whole lot of algae growing on my rocks and its starting to algae on the side of my tank. What is causing this and how do i get rid of it? Algae eaters?

 

This is actually normal. It is a part of the process of your tank cycling.Let it happen and I would read some of the posts here related to tank cycling to better understand whats going on with it.A cleanup up crew never hurts!

 

If your tank is still cycling - make sure the lights are off. You will get a big algae bloom since the nitrogen is going to be high. It's part of the cycle. Keep the lights off till you add cuc and then start slow

Whats a cuc? But i forgot to add. Im running a protein skimmer as well.

 

Clean up crew - snails ect -- but if you are still in cycle you need to wait till your ammonia and nitrite are @ 0 and nitrogen under 20 ppm at least.

Do you have lights on? if so shut them off

 

Yeah i have them on but yes i just shut them off.

 

What are the specifics on your rock, ie Fiji rock from ACME Rock Co, dry base rock, etc...

What are the specifics on your source water, ie from the toilet, RODI, etc...

What are the specifics on your filtration, mechanical, chemical, biological...
